If you are after a maxi yacht sailing experience on a fast yacht that is cosy downstairs then 'Siska' is perfect. On Siska there may be some party nights. In May 2002 Siska had an interior makeover, including new bathrooms and new floor. |
|
It is estimated that Siska had sailed around 140,000 nautical miles from its launch until arrival in the Whitsunday Islands in December 1992. During this time Siska won two Sydney to Hobart Yacht Races along with circumnavigating the world twice. In 1979, with HRH Prince Charles as part of the crew, Siska set the fastest time defeating world champion Kioloa, and was first overall at Cowes in the Queen Victoria Cup against 329 other entries. Also in 1979 she came second in the disastrous Fastnet Race of that year having sailed the last 300 miles with a broken boom. Siska won the Parmelia Race from England to Perth, which celebrated the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Western Australia. During her racing career Siska won races in Australia, England, Fiji, Germany, Hawaii, Hong Kong, New Zealand, & South Africa. In 1994 Siska's interior was totally removed and remodelled to make Siska one of the most comfortable overnight MAXI charter yachts sailing the Whitsunday Islands. Siska has a full width saloon of 20ft. Each trip takes up to 22 guests on the adventure of a lifetime. Weekly maintenance keeps Siska in A1 condition with major refits occurring every 2 years to keep Siska looking great. Siska has a myriad of winches and sailing gear that could baffle all but the most experienced crew, however, guests are welcome to assist sail Siska, including hoisting and trimming sails, or taking the heIm to steer her around the islands. Two dining tables provide plenty of space for guests to enjoy meals together. This saloon area also doubles as a comfortable lounge area.

Hey Kerry,
just to let you know that my friends and I had a terrific time on Siska this weekend. THanks for helping us book it and recomending that boat. The crew of Jim, Mikka and Mel were terrific, really looked after us and a lot of fun, if you could pass on our thanks to them to southern cross that would be great. Also the gal at southern cross who checked us in was great too. All round excelent and very enjoyable
Cheers
