Day 2 - Kings Canyon to Kata Tjuta & Uluru
We head for Uluru (Ayers Rock) enjoying the sights of Mt Connor and Curtin Springs cattle station along the way. After lunch, hike the 'Valley of the Winds' at Kata Tjuta (Olgas) before experiencing an Uluru sunset. Enjoy a hearty dinner before turning in at our permanent campsite in Yulara.
Day 3 - Uluru to Coober Pedy
An early start is required for one of the highlights of the tour - the Uluru sunrise. You can enjoy a walk around the base, exploring the mysterious rock formations and Aboriginal art sites while watching the changing light on the desert or choose to climb. We visit the Cultural Centre for the chance to view and purchase Aboriginal arts and crafts, then we depart for Coober Pedy and our overnight stay in an underground bunkhouse (NB: Upgrade to hotel accommodation available at additional expense)
Day 4 - Coober Pedy to Rawnsley Park
Enjoy a morning town and mine tour with an opal cutting demonstration followed by the chance to go opal fossicking (time permitting). Then we head down the Stuart Highway on our way to the spectacular sheep station of Rawnsley Park where we overnight in dorm accommodation.
Day 5 - Wilpena Pound to Parachilna
An early start to the day for the challenging climb of Mt Ohlssen-Bagge. Be rewarded with fantastic views of Wilpena Pound, the Ranges, desert and Lake Torrens. In the late afternoon we travel onto Parachilna for sunset and our overnight dorm accommodation.
Day 6 - Parachilna to Adelaide
This morning we take a short walk to view rock art at Yourambulla Caves then visit the ruins of Kanyaka Homestead. We take a break in the beautiful Clare Valley before continuing on to Adelaide, arriving in the late evening.
Day 7 - A Free Day in Adelaide to Relax
Dorm Accommodation included. (Meals at own expense)
Day 8 - Adelaide to the Grampians
Call in at Keith then head to the World Heritage Naracoorte Caves to explore the limestone caves (own expense). Stop at Mt Arapiles, the renowned rock climbing area where we drop off anyone willing to give it a go. Travel through Horsham and continue on to the Grampians - walk to McKenzie Falls and enjoy a swim then walk to the Balconies for great views. Overnight Halls Gap (meals and accommodation at own expense)
Day 9 - Grampians to Warrnambool
Check out the Aboriginal rock art site at Manja Shelter. Call in at Hamilton, the 'Wool Capital of the World' for a chance to buy lunch. Head to Tower Hill, a huge volcanic crater and wildlife reserve. Overnight at Warrnambool, the largest town on the shipwreck coast - explore the beautiful coast various hiking trails. Day 10 - Warrnambool to Melbourne
Travel the Great Ocean Road from Warrnambool to Torquay - visit London's Arch, walk to the Grotto, stop at Loch Ard Gorge, the 12 Apostles, Lavers Hill and Apollo Bay. Enjoy a photo opportunity at Bells Beach, one of the world's best surf beaches. Head into Melbourne on the West Gate Bridge over the Yarra River. (no Meals)
