This morning's flight crosses the Great Victoria Desert and the arid Nullarbor Plain. provides uninterrupted views of the stark, arid landscape below. Land at the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie. A tour of this interesting city explains the development and history of this once prosperous place. In contrast, a visit to nearby Coolgardie, classified as a ghost town, transports us back to the goldmining days of the late 1800's.

Today a flight to remember! Leaving Esperance the aircraft follows the contours of the Great Australian Bight at 500 feet. One of Australia's largest nature reserves, Kangaroo Island is renowned for its wildlife. Kingscote is the major centre on the island and was the home of the first white settlers in South Australia. Visit Seal Bay, a sea lion breeding colony and walk amongst the sea lions as they lie relaxing on the beach.

Day 12 - Kangaroo Island/Flinders Ranges
