Catboats: The catboat only has a mainsail.

Boats with Two Masts:
Ketches:
A ketch has two masts, the front one being taller.  The smaller mast is called the mizzen. To be a ketch, the mizzenmast must be in front of the rudderpost.

Yawls: The yawl rig is very similar to the ketch rig and is usually seen only on older boats.  The yawl’s mizzenmast is usually smaller in height than the ketch.

Schooner: The schooner is a very traditional rig with two or more masts.  The front mast must be shorter than the main mast.
